我买了个Symbol LA4137 用的时候，发热厉害，正常吗？

很不正常，电池取暖，潇洒。
台式机一般都是满功率全时间开启，这样信号质量比较好。
到笔记本和PDA都要开power save mode，windows的驱动－》属性里边有。
linux按如下办法操作。

请google iwconfig power

power
Used to manipulate power management scheme parameters and mode.
To set the period between wake ups, enter period 'value'. To set the timeout before going back to sleep, enter timeout 'value'. You can also add the min and max modifiers. By default, those values are in seconds, append the suffix m or u to specify values in milliseconds or microseconds. Sometimes, those values are without units (number of beacon periods, dwell or similar).
off and on disable and reenable power management. Finally, you may set the power management mode to all (receive all packets), unicast (receive unicast packets only, discard multicast and broadcast) and multicast (receive multicast and broadcast only, discard unicast packets).
Examples :
iwconfig eth0 power period 2
iwconfig eth0 power 500m unicast
iwconfig eth0 power timeout 300u all
iwconfig eth0 power off
iwconfig eth0 power min period 2 power max period 4

iwconfig wlan0 power on power max period 3
也没有什么输出信息，
iwconfig后
Power Mannger 还是 off

是不是不支持省电模式，按理Symbol LA4137应该支持省电模式

难道是假货。

试试别的命令，一定要开启省电模式。

还有个问题，为什么我的信号质量显示成XX/XXX而不是-XXdbm

我执行的是这个
iwconfig eth0 power min period 2 power max period 4

执行前，发射灯常亮，接收灯偶尔闪。
iwconfig显示状态：
Tx-Power=off, pwer Management=off

执行后，发射灯不断闪烁。
iwconfig显示状态：
Tx-Power=16dBm, pwer Management=on

确认已进入省电模式。

15dbm = 35mw，用DBM是因为mw实际信号的效果不是线性关系，dbm就是线性了。

信号质量是不是用来显示方格，是个比较值？

跟驱动甚至硬件有关系。
进入省电模式了吗？

试试卡不联网，设置省电。
例如：
ifconfig eth0 down
iwconfig ...

没有进入省电模式，我估计是驱动的关系。我刷了beta3装了驱动，就能进入省电模式。beta1的orinoco.c是0.13e；spectrum_cs.c是0.4.2；firmware是3.70-27。而beta3下的orinoco是0.15rc2STA；spectrum_cs.c是0.15rc2STA；firmware是3.90-68。我对Linux无线网卡驱动不怎么了解，beta3不重装驱动出现，加载firmware失败，没法驱动无线网卡。但我没按http://z.osall.com/viewtopic.php?t=1203&highlight=LA4137这重装驱动，我只把orinoco_modules.tar.gz 解压后，覆盖原来的驱动模块，就能驱动了，没有把pdaxrom_1.1.0beta4_hostap_fw_fix2.tar.gz 还有这两个
symbol_sp24t_prim_fw
symbol_sp24t_sec_fw frimware复制进去，完全能够驱动，而且能设置省电模式。
能给我讲讲Linux无线网卡整个加载过程吗？

有点乱。

1. 你的是7500，beta1的kernel是2.4.18，beta3的kernel是2.4.20，beta4的kernel是2.6.X，所以这三者的驱动是无法互用的。beta1和beta3的源代码一般可以共用的。

2. Firmware一般被称为固件，需要在初始化时通过接口，传输到卡上，卡才能正常工作。不管是哪个kernel版本，Firmware只跟硬件有关，应该是可以共用的。
